Ethan Gibson (b. 1980) is the son of Cecilia and Robert Gibson.
He was born in Meadowbank in Scotland, and immigrated to the United States in 1988. He attended Prophecy Creek High School from 1994 until his death, and wrote for the Creek Reader.
During the Summer of 1997, he wrote a 716-page manuscript entitled Cecilia's Song.

Ethan Gibson was initially two separate characters: "Jeromy Clarke," a character who played Ethan's role within Michael's circle of friends, and "Irving Gaines," a character who died midway through the novel.
